Tests show 'actionable' levels of lead in drinking water at seven Chesterfield schools

High levels of lead have been found in drinking water at seven Chesterfield County schools.

The school division recently sent letters to parents at six schools — Bellwood Elementary School, Bird High School, Midlothian High School, Providence Middle School, Salem Middle School and Swift Creek Middle School — informing them of the high levels of lead.

In November, a letter was sent to parents at Gates Elementary School after high lead levels were found at the school.

The school system tested about 3,700 water outputs at 47 schools. The tests showed that 137 outputs had “actionable” levels.
