Texas Drought Conditions Jump to 45%

Thursday will be the 40th consecutive day without measurable precipitation at Abilene Regional Airport and this record dry start to 2016 is finally catching up with us.

Just one week ago drought conditions covered less than 12% of Texas, including portions of Coke, Runnels and Mills counties. Over the past week drought conditions have accelerated across the state, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, released Thursday morning.

'Abnormally Dry' and 'Moderate Drought' conditions now cover 44.84% of Texas.
