Toxic algae at Pyramid Lake makes bad choice for swimming, drinking

CASTAIC >> State water officials warned visitors to Pyramid Lake Friday that a toxic algae bloom continues to make the water unsafe for swimming and other recreational activities.

The latest samples still show microcystin toxins in harmful amounts, according to the Department of Water Resources. The algae bloom was first discovered late last month at the reservoir near Castaic, about 60 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
