Water quality a growing issue as floods persist

Missoula, MONT. —

The water in Missoula’s Orchard Homes area has receded some in the last few days. However, the quality of water is getting worse.

Flooding brings feet of unwanted water through people's property, but it also contaminates the water already there.

"Anybody who's on a well and has a septic system has a very likely chance that those two things are going to mix together when you have rising flood waters,” said Ken Parks, the Department of Emergency Services coordinator for Missoula County.
